In order to protect the health and well-being of our community, the Board of Directors at Avalon Recovery Society has made the extremely difficult decision to close our Avalon Women’s Centres for two weeks.
This will be effective Thursday, March 19 to Thursday, April 2 inclusive, at which time the decision to re-open will be evaluated based on public health guidelines.
We are a strong and supportive community, and this decision was made to support and protect the most vulnerable among us.
Although we must physically distance ourselves, we will not be without each other’s support during this difficult time. We are working on ways that we can continue providing a space for peer support meetings and addiction support virtually and by phone, and will provide more information on how you can stay connected and involved with the Avalon community in the coming days. Please stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for the most up-to-date information.
Now is not the time for isolation, we need each other more than ever. Please keep these words in mind:
“Every hand that we don’t shake must become a phone call that we place. Every embrace that we avoid must become a verbal expression of warmth and concern. Every inch and every foot that we physically place between ourselves and another, must become a thought as to how we might be of help to that other, should the need arise.” - Yosef Kanefsky
Thank you for your understanding and we will be in touch with details on how we will be continuing to support our community as soon as possible.
