After looking at current public health recommendations and the COVID-19 situation in British Columbia, the Avalon Board of Directors has made the decision that our Avalon Women’s Centres will remain closed until April 30, 2020.
The decision to re-open on May 1 will be made based on public health guidelines at that time.
Although our Avalon Women’s Centres may be closed, we are continuing to provide vital connection and support to women in recovery during this difficult time.
We have moved our in-person peer support meetings to teleconference meetings, established daily drop-in support times on our phone lines and created new ways of connecting via live chat and email. Click here for details on how to stay connected during the COVID-19 crisis.
We have also launched a new page on our website with the latest news, information, meeting schedules and resources for women in recovery: https://www.avalonrecoverysociety.org/avalon-recovery-society/what-we-do/covid-19-avalon/
Last week was our first full week of virtual meetings, and we saw higher attendance than ever before and new women joining us from across the province! We are adding new meetings to our schedule every day and are proud to continue our mission of supporting and connecting women in recovery during this challenging time. Thank you to our supporters and strong community for helping us continue our important work.
Stay safe and well,
Avalon Recovery Society
