Below are the online support group meetings available through Avalon Recovery Society.
All Zoom / phone meetings require registration in order to obtain login information.

NOTE: Registration for in-person meetings is no longer required.
You can just show up to the Centre at the applicable meeting time. Contact tracing is still in effect.

Update on COVID protocols effective August 24, 2021: Avalon Recovery Society is following the recommended guidelines set by the BC Government, which is once again recommending mask wearing for public indoor settings for all people 12 and older. Masks are required when attending meetings and services in-person at Avalon Women’s Centres until further notice.

Avalon offers hybrid support groups, with most meetings offered via Zoom or phone and some in-person options available. For in-person meetings, physical distancing and disinfection measures are in place. Name and contact details are required when you attend in person, as per British Columbia’s public health guidelines.

This information is confidential and will only be used if contact tracing is necessary.

Avalon meetings are offered to anyone who identifies and lives full-time as a woman, trans-inclusive. 

Although we appreciate that individuals may wish to attend as a recovery professional, to respect the anonymity of the women of Avalon, we ask that you contact the Centre Manager.

If you require a support person to attend a meeting with you, they are welcome to join – as long as your support person is a woman.

Yes. Avalon is offering some in-person meetings at our Women’s Centres. Registration is not required, and there are no restrictions on how many women can attend each meeting.

However, you are not allowed to attend a meeting in-person if you: have a fever, cold or flu symptoms, have travelled outside of the Lower Mainland within the last 14 days, or if you have been instructed to self-isolate by Public Health.

Meetings hosted virtually via Zoom/phone must be booked on our website. If you do not have access to a computer, you may call the Centre Manager to secure your spot and receive the necessary login information.

We encourage you to join the meeting a minimum of 5 minutes before the start time, however the meeting is open 15 minutes prior to the start time and you may join at that time. 

You can book a meeting up to two weeks in advance. 

In your original email confirmation, there is a button after the meeting details which provides a fast and easy way to cancel or modify your meeting. 

The 7th Tradition is an essential part at every level of recovery and every recovery group is to be self-supporting. Seventh Tradition contributions help cover rent and other related expenses.

Due to COVID-19, we encourage you to make your contribution via our online portal (select “yes” when asked if this is for 7th Tradition).

Yes, drop-ins are now allowed without registration or appointments. If needed, you can contact the Centre Manager by phone for support.

No. Childminding is not being offered at this time due to COVID-19.

No. Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, children are not allowed in the centre during meetings. If you do not have childcare, we encourage you to attend a meeting via Zoom or phone.

Effective July 1, 2021 – Our Clothing Closet is open again! We are accepting donations (clothing, shoes, accessories) that are lightly worn at each of our Centres and women in recovery are welcome to  visit the Centres for free items.
