Vancouver Centre

Located on Vancouver’s West Boulevard, Avalon Women’s Centre Vancouver has been a staple in the community for nearly three decades. Today the Centre offers women a safe, comfortable space to attend support groups and find meaningful connections to help with their recovery journey. The Centre has a resource library, computer with internet access, clothing closet, volunteer opportunities, a steady supply of tea and coffee and a listening ear and a helping hand. We invite you to drop by and experience this wonderful place for yourself.

Meet your Centre Manager

Michelle Swan

Michelle has been part of the Avalon community since 1998, when she started volunteering with Avalon Women’s Centre Vancouver. In March 1999, she took on the role of full-time Centre Manager and has been a pillar of strength, support and warmth in the Centre ever since.

Michelle loves working with the women of Avalon, and says she “feels inspired every day” by their courage, strength, compassion and humour. She enjoys the many facets of her work, including outreach, administration and co-ordinating events.

A Prince Edward Island native, Michelle has been on the west coast for 25 years and enjoys exploring the natural beauty of British Columbia. When she’s not at the Centre you can find her travelling, gardening, cooking, biking or doing yoga.
