Volunteer
Avalon Recovery Society embodies three powerful healing truths: connection, community, and acceptance. As a volunteer with us, you not only share your skills with the women we help, but you may also find connections for yourself too. Join us at Avalon where we lift each other as we climb. Become a volunteer today. We have opportunities in our Centre’s as well as AvalOnline.
Becoming A Volunteer
Volunteering with Avalon brings you in touch with our mission to provide connection, community and acceptance for women seeking recovery. Anonymity and confidentiality are core to creating a safe haven for women caught in the despair of addiction. We treat the responsibility very respectfully, offering volunteer roles at our Centres providing Peer Support, hosting meetings and helping with administrative duties, like running errands, cleaning, and managing our Clothing Closet and Lending Library. Service is a key element of recovery.
Avalon also offers online community volunteer opportunities to our allies. Front Desk tasks such as handling phone and email enquiries, supporting event planning and assisting with Community Outreach and fundraising campaigns.
Additionally, we are actively seeking people to host professional workshops for the women of Avalon. Our focus is on evidence-based education and practices in mind, body and spiritual addiction recovery. We host ongoing events at our Centre’s and via Zoom and can accommodate a hybrid approach. If you are a professional who would be willing to donate your services, please get in touch with us!
Who can be a volunteer?
Anyone who identifies as a woman, trans-inclusive, may volunteer in-Centre. Some roles, particularly meeting hosts, require the woman to be a member of the 12-step program that she would lead.
While at times there are opportunities for men to volunteer with Avalon, our main roles (in particular those providing peer support or hosting meetings) are intended for the Women of Avalon.
Who do I contact?
If you are currently a woman of Avalon, please contact your closest Centre Manager to discuss what volunteer opportunities are available.
If you are not a woman of Avalon, we welcome external volunteers to help out with administrative, fundraising and outreach tasks. Please contact Quincey Kirschnerto find out how you can get involved.
Professionals who would like to provide workshops to the women of Avalon Recovery Society, please reach out to one of our Centre Managers to discuss.
Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with Avalon Recovery Society!
