How to Book a Meeting
Why do I need to Book a Meeting?
A number of reasons. Firstly, we need to adhere to strict COVID regulations for in person meetings and need to ensure that we are only booking the allowed limits. Secondly, to protect Zoom participants from unwanted visitors and behaviour, we will no longer be publishing the Zoom meeting details on our site. Meeting participants must sign up to receive these.
Why is my email and phone number required?
As per COVID regulations we your contact details for contact tracing purposes when you attend In Person meetings. For virtual meeting online via Zoom and Phone, we need to make sure that the meeting participants are legitimately women in recovery and not “Zoom bombers” looking to disrupt our programming. This has happened in the past, and these measures are to ensure the safety & security of the women we serve.
Are drop-ins allowed?
As of July 6 2020, Avalon is offering a small number of limited capacity in-person meetings at our Women’s Centres. Many of our meetings will be held by Zoom until further notice.
How has COVID impacted meetings?
Avalon has shifted the majority of our meetings to online format. There are some limited in person meeting but space is limited . Please only reserve meetings you plan to attend. If you’re unable to attend, please cancel in advance. For in-person meetings, face masks are required and physical distancing measures are in place. Name and contact details as per British Columbia’s public health guidelines. This information is confidential and will only be used in the event that contact tracing is necessary
Are there in person meetings?

Is chilcare available for in person meetings?
Childminding is not being offered at this time due to COVID-19.
How far in advance can I book a meeting?
You can book a meeting up to two weeks in advance.
What time should I join my Zoom meeting?
You can join your meeting up to 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Feel free to stay on up to 15 minutes after to chat with the other women.
Are you accepting clothing donations?
Due to COVID protocols, at this time we are not accepting clothing donations and our clothing closets are closed.
